•Smiths Falls, Ontario-based Canopy Growth is launching new products for its 7Acres and Doja brands. Both brands feature some of Canopy’s premium offerings. 7Acres is expanding with new flower release Platinum Kush Breath, sold in 3.5g increments, and a new infused pre-roll made with 7Acres Papaya flower and bubble hash. Doja, which has a legacy of growing in British Columbia’s Okanagan Valley, recently launched top-selling strain Doja 91K in a 14g option, the brand’s first large format premium release. That’s being augmented with three new strains of flower: OG Deluxe, Fresh Biscotti, and Blackberry Cream, all in 3.5g packaging. They’re launching across Canada now.
•Minneapolis, Minnesota-based Goodness Growth Holdings is introducing cannabis gummies in its home state, following the new law legalizing THC in food and drink there, which took effect yesterday. The gummies launched under Goodness Growth’s brand Vireo and initially include the flavors Key Lime, Concord Grape, Hawaiian Pineapple, and Oxnard Strawberry, all containing 10mg of THC. An additional flavor, Alfonso Mango, that will contain equal levels of THC and CBD, is planned. Vireo gummies are available now at the company’s eight Green Goods dispensaries in Minnesota.
•Denver, Colorado-based Jerry Garcia Wellness is launching its inaugural CBD products. The brand is an official partner of the Garcia family and features a line of products that pay homage to the Grateful Dead musician. That line includes a collection of tinctures, topicals, and rose-shaped gummies. Jerry Garcia Wellness products will be available for purchase in the fall.
•A panel of scientists gave Canadian health authorities an official recommendation that CBD is “safe and tolerable” for adults and should be available without a prescription. The findings will bolster CBD’s place as a consumer product that won’t be harmful to the average consumer. That being said, the panel also recommended that all CBD products carry warnings about potential interactions with other drugs and alcohol and be specifically labeled to warn of CBD’s known negative effects on fetal development in pregnant women. The report also noted that CBD “is not habit forming.”
